5 Electrical installation

5.1 Installation sequence

• Connect the CLV490 to a CDB420 or CDM490 Connection Module, or using a custom-

er-specific wiring configuration

• Connect the data and function interfaces of the CLV490 in the module

• Connect the PC to the Connection Module (at the auxiliary interface on the CLV490)

• Connect the power supply to the Connection Module

5.1.1 SICK Connection Modules (overview)

For technical data on the modules see Chapter 10.13.3 Accessories: Hoods, Page 10-75.

5.2 Electrical connections and cables

The electrical connections on the CLV490 consist of two 15-pin D Sub HD connections on

the housing, one plug, and one socket.

These connections are used to route the following interfaces:

• Three data serial interfaces (host interface, CAN interface 1 and 2, auxiliary interface)

• Six switching inputs (external reading pulse and multifunctional inputs)

• Four switching outputs (for result status function, for connecting to a PLC for example)

• Power supply

5.2.1 Wire cross-sections

CLV490 without heater:

¾ All connections must be wired with copper cables with a minimum wire diameter of

0.15 mm

(approx. 26 AWG)!
