Troubleshooting
8.5.2 Malfunctions in Reading mode: reading trigger errors
¾ Check whether the "Device Ready" LED lights up.
If the LED does not light, see Table 8-5, Page 8-9.
CLV490 in stand-alone configuration
Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
1. Trigger mode:
Sensor input (external sensor).
The CLV490 cannot be clocked:
– the "Sensor" LED does not light up
– the red scan line does not appear
Reading mode "Start/stop" or
"Tracking ":
• Sensor not connected or connected to
incorrect switching input.
• If sensor supplied by CLV490: sensor
not connected to ground potential.
• Incorrect reading pulse source para-
meterized in the CLV490.
• Polarity of switching input inverted
• Incorrect debouncing of the switching
input parameterized in the CLV490.
• Photoelectric switch not aligned with the
reflector (photoelectric proximity switch/
inductive sensor not dampened).
• The object does not pass the reading
pulse sensor for trigger start with the
conveyor running.
• Connect sensor to "Sensor" switching
input.
Check sensor wiring (see Fig. 5-5,
Page 5-22).
Measure output signal on sensor.
• Insert jumper between pin 5 and pin 15
(CDM490: S 1 switch "SGND_GND")
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
D
EVICE CONFIGURATION tab, READING TRIG-
GER SOURCE section: Sensor input select-
ed? (active high: reading pulse starts
when power applied, active low: reading
pulse starts when power removed)
• See above.
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
D
EVICE CONFIGURATION tab, click the
R
EADING TRIGGER PARAMETERS button,
DEBOUNCING SENSOR section:
Time controlled: selected value too high?
Track controlled: incremental encoder
connected to "IN 4" switching input?
• Align sensor.
Check functioning
• Install reading pulse sensor in front of the
CLV490 in conveying direction. See also
Chapter 4.4.2 Mounting the external rea-
ding pulse sensor, Page 4-11 .
