4.4 Mounting the external components
4.4.1 Mounting the CDB420 or CDM490 Connection Module
1. Mount the CDB420 or CDM490 Connection Module near the CLV490.
The distance between the connection module and CLV490 should not exceed max.
10 m (32.8 ft).
2. Mount the CDB420 or CDM490 in such a way that accessed to the open device is al-
ways possible. The auxiliary interface of the CLV490 is accessed via the 9-pin, internal
"Aux" plug.
Detailed information on the mounting and electrical installation procedures is provided in the
"CDB420 Connection Module" Operating Instructions (order no. 8010001, German/En-
glish) respectively in the "CDM490 Connection Module" Operating Instructions (order
no. 8010005, German/English).
4.4.2 Mounting the external reading pulse sensor
If the CLV490 is triggered by an external reading pulse sensor, the sensor must be mounted
in the vicinity of the CLV490. The "Sensor" switching input is selected as the default trigger
source for this trigger type. The default debounce time of the input is 30 ms.
Fig. 4-10 shows two examples of where a photoelectric reflex switch can be mounted. This
depends on the distance a from the bar code to the front of the object. Depending on the
application, you may need to mount the sensor in such a way that bar codes on objects of
different sizes can be read completely during the reading interval ("internal reading gate").
Note In default setting, the CLV490 operates in the autofocus mode "Minimum distance“. As a
result, the CLV490 focuses on the object that is nearest in Percentage Evaluation mode.
The view on the object with the scan line must be unobstructed, i. e. any other objects must
not protude into the autofocus space. If they do so, the autofocus mode "Differential back-
